This 1958 Porsche 356 Speedster Recreation finished in beautiful burgundy with black leather speedster seats. This combination is based on the 1973 VW Beetle upgraded 1915CC Flat-4 engine duel Solex carburettors & 3.88 4-speed manual transaxle engine. Enjoyable to drive and one of the most charismatic of all postwar European sports cars, Porsche Speedster was based on the Fibreglass-bodied 356 America Roadster. Stuttgart Reutter Carrosserie revised America's original bodywork and designed the Speedsters high-waisted body style, which soon became one of Porsche's most celebrated designs. Debuted in 1954, the Speedster brought the joys of Porsche ownership within reach of a wider audience with its sale price just under $3,000. Equipped with a cut-down removable windscreen, simple bucket seats and a low-profile soft top and side curtains for weather protection, the lightweight Speedster delivered noticeably sharper performance and handling, making it an ideal and very successful dual-purpose road/race car. Attractively finished in Burgundy over the Black vinyl cockpit, this 1958 Porsche 356 Speedster Recreation is a very enjoyable example. During the current ownership, this Speedster has been lightly enjoyed and maintained with annual service. In addition to a tonneau cover and soft top, the Speedster is equipped with a Black canvas top-boot cover. The interior is especially inviting with a 3-spoke, Ivory coloured-rimmed steering wheel, supportive bucket seats, map pockets, factory-style door handles and control knobs, and an authentic-looking dash containing a tachometer, speedometer, and gauges. The Speedster's curvaceous body is accented by period-style bright trim, model scripts and emblems, a proper low-profile windscreen, and chrome ventilated wheels with smooth chrome hubcaps all nicely recalling the unmistakable looks and the elemental and racy character of the original Speedsters of the 1950s.
